How to Pay for Parking

Parking Pay Stations/Meters

Atlanta’s new pay stations/meters make paying for on-street parking convenient. They’re easy to use and provide you with several payment options. ATLPlus uses these solar-powered pay-by-plate parking pay stations/meters throughout the City which requires the driver to input their license plate number to pay for their parking. A good method to remember your plate number is to take a picture from your smartphone once you park and walk to the nearest pay station. Depending on the location pay stations either accept coins, single dollars bills, and credit and debit cards or coins and credit and debit cards only. The minimum payment amount for credit/debit card users is $2. When parking, please remember your plate number, identify the nearest pay station, and follow the onscreen directions to enter you plate number and select your payment option. Receipts are optional and you do not have to display it on your dash. Parking time limits still apply.

What is a parking pay station/meter?

Pay stations replace traditional single space parking meters and offer more payment options. One pay station is typically installed for approximately every 10-20 parking spaces instead of at every space and are strategically located throughout the city.

Pay by smartphone

You can park in any paid on-street parking space by using the parking pay station/meter, text to pay or one of the mobile apps with your smartphone. With the mobile apps, starting your parking transaction takes just a few seconds and there is no need to pay at a pay station/meter. You can easily extend your time using text to pay or one of the apps as long as you do not overstay the time limits. To pay using text to pay or one of the apps you will need your zone number, license plate number and state. ATLPlus zone numbers will always start with 51 and will only be five digits.

Parking meter issues & malfunctions

If you park at a malfunctioning pay station/meter you should find another pay station/meter to make your payment, use text to pay, or an app listed on parkingapp.com. If a parking meter malfunctions please call 404-201-5396 to report the malfunction.

Payment methods and parking rates

While all pay stations will accept the coins and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Amex), some will still accept dollar bills.

The minimum transaction amount for a credit card is $2.00. The hourly parking rate is $2.00 throughout the City.
