The Georgia Institute of Technology “Georgia Tech” was founded in 1885 as part of Reconstruction plans for the South following the Civil War. While originally a trade school, Georgia Tech has grown to become a technical institute and research university. Today, Georgia Tech consists of six colleges and is well recognized for its degrees in engineering, computing, business administration, the sciences, design, and liberal arts.
